A few moments ago, as I parked my car right outside my apartment, a cop car happened to go down the street. Unfortunately, at the same time there was a black man walking on the other side of the sidewalk just a few steps behind me. I was surprised to see that these asshole cops flashed the light at this man to get his attention. The man then waved his hand at the cops, a gesture he was doing fine. But what did these cops do? They starred him down and followed him down the street to where he finally approached a fence. The way that the cops looked at him was like watching two angry dogs about to pounce on their prey. It was as if they had already condemned him for doing nothing more than what I was doing right across the way, walking down the street. Feeling angry and helpless I stood my ground and followed the guy as well. I didn’t go into my apartment until I saw that he was safe inside his friends house. The least I could do was be witness to this man if these assholes decided to do something to him. Still at this moment I feel bitterness in my mouth. To watch racial discrimination unfold right in front of me, in front of where I live, in fucking liberal ass California, it’s just surreal. What a privilege it fucking is to have lighter skin, to be a girl in a pink dress and nothing more. What privilege it is not to have to apologize for being black. I am so over you America.
